About David Vasquez

David is a passionate mathematics educator based in Houston, Texas. He brings over nine years of tutoring experience and four years of high school classroom teaching, having taught thousands of hours across a wide range of math subjects. David currently teaches Algebra II at The Tenney School, one of Houston’s premier private schools. There, he’s often found in the cafeteria brewing coffee or in his office helping students one-on-one. His teaching portfolio at Tenney includes Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, AP Precalculus*, and College Algebra.

Education

David earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Houston in 2021, with a minor in physics. His coursework included 60 credit hours in mathematics and 25 in physics, concluding with advanced study in real analysis, classical mechanics, and quantum mechanics.

Teaching Philosophy

David creates a classroom environment where students feel safe to be themselves and empowered to ask questions. He has extensive experience supporting neurodivergent learners, including those with ADHD, executive function challenges, autism, depression, and anxiety. He firmly believes that every student can succeed in mathematics, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Recognition

During the 2022–2023 school year, David received the High School Teacher of the Year and Most Encouraging Teacher awards at The Tenney School.
